InstantEncore Appscension Push Notifications
We've partnered with InstantEncore to develop an integration that allows an Appscension Push Notification to be triggered anywhere within a contact's journey in a Prospect2 Automation. When you combine this with our robust Tessitura integration, you have a powerful way to reach your patrons and enhance their experience. From pre and post event communication, welcoming new members and thanking donors, to sending special offers or a reminder about an upcoming presale, the options are near limitless!
Appscension Push Notifications are used to trigger messages to mobile devices of patrons who have an organization’s InstantEncore Appscension app downloaded, push notifications enabled, and have logged into the app. An organization would utilize the Appscension service and set up their app with Tessitura performance information, venue/visitor data, media, etc. to give patrons a unique app-centric experience.
Integrating Appscension with Prospect2
- Email support@instantencore.com to let them know you would like to enable the integration. A member of the InstantEncore team will generate your unique Appscension API token for your account and will provide this information to Pro2 on your behalf.
- The Pro2 team will then configure and enable the integration within your Tessitura Integrated Dashboard.
- You'll receive a confirmation from a member of the Pro2 team once connectivity has been confirmed. This process can take 1 - 2 business days to complete.
Appscension Push Notifications Page
Once integrated, you'll have access to the Appscension Push Notification page within your Pro2 Tessitura Integrated Dashboard. The user interface and overall workflow is very similar to how Customer Service Issues function.
This page allows access to create a new Push Notification in addition to a listing all of your previously created Push Notifications. Each Push Notification is represented with a toggle to enable or disable, an edit button, a More Actions menu button to allow access to the audit history or to delete the job, and a click-to-copy field for easy access to copy and paste the unique webhook URL into a webhook action in an Prospect2 Automation
Creating a Push Notification
To create a new Notification click the "+Add Appscension Push Notification" button. The information filled out in this form defines the details of the push notification that will be displayed on a contacts mobile device when triggered and what happens when the contact clicks on the push notification on their phone.
Push Notification Message:
- Select Personalization Tag to Insert into the Message: Select Personalization Tag to Insert into the Message. Click the drop down to insert Pro2 Personalization Tags into your push notification Message. The Personalization Tag will be populated with a contacts Custom Contact Field value at time of push notification send.
Push notifications have a 175 character limit, so be mindful of the character count of both static text and any text populated by Personalization Tags. Any message that exceeds 175 characters will be truncated.
Tap Actions Include:
- Open App: Opens the InstantEncore Appscension app to the home screen.
- Open Website: Opens device's default browser to the url specified in actionTarget.
When selected, an empty field will appear allowing you to enter a URL that will load when the mobile user taps the notification. - Go To App Page: Opens the screen within the app specified in actionTarget. See GET AppLinkCategories for values.
When selected, a dropdown will display containing available app categories. The categories are hard-coded as they are the same across all various organizations’ apps. Once a category is selected, a new field will appear to display app links by the chosen category. This process calls the Appscension app_links method via AJAX to display the available app links in the dropdown.
Adding a Push Notification to a Pro2 Automation
Each Appscension Push Notification displayed on the listing page has a click-to-copy URL that is to be used in a Webhook Action within a Pro2 Automation.
To add the Webhook Action to an Automation in your Pro2/ActiveCampaign dashboard, navigate to the Conditions and Workflow section. There you will find the "add a Webhook Action" which can be placed anywhere within your into your Automation flow. Once the Webhook Action is added, paste in the full URL copied from the Push Notification.
Contacts who enter the Automation and reach this Webhook Action are eligible to have a push notification triggered to their mobile device if the contact has the InstantEncore Appscension app downloaded on their device, Appscension push notifications enabled, and have logged into the app.
If a contact has the Appscension app open and in focus on their phone, the notification of the Push will not appear. The application must not be in focus to see the push notification on the device.
Reporting
While you can review Automation Reports within your Pro2 account to view contacts who have entered the Automation, you can review additional metrics directly within your InstantEncore Appscension account. There you can view the total number of push messages sent, direct, and influenced responses. You may locate push analytics by logging into your account at instantencore.com and access Appscension > Analytics > Pushes.
Testing Actions
- Create a dedicated Automation in your Pro2/ActiveCampaign dashboard and include the Webhook Action with the URL for the Post Notification to be tested. The Automation needs no trigger.
- Manually trigger a contact into the Automation to confirm the automation webhook action does in fact trigger the Post Notification message. The email address of the contact being tested needs to be an email address that is a registered user of the Appscension application.
- Confirm target contacts receive Push Notification and all of the Push actions defined (tap action, message, etc.) work as expected.
